Snowflake Research and the Designer

Since BC150 people have been looking at snowflakes and recognizing the patterns which emerges from them. Our designer Michael Nadeau is fascinated by snowflakes. They are his inspiration. An admirer of the work of Wilson Bentley (1901) and his snowflake photography, Michael realizes that not only is no every snowflake one of a kind but each stem of frozen ice crystal is unique.  By hand crafting his patterns he is able to bring these subtle characteristics of snowflakes to life in his designs.

Michael takes his own photos of snowflakes on a frozen steel plate.
